We hear a lot of talk around self-love, but when you really try to think about it, it's kind of an abstract concept to understand and apply. How do we know whether we love ourselves or not? And if we don't, how do we find self-love? Loving yourself is really about fully realizing your divinity and your wholeness. It's about knowing that everything you need is already inside you. You don't need to rely on others' validation to know your self-worth and believe in yourself. You don't need others' unconditional love because you can get it from yourself. If someone isn't treating you as the divine, spiritual being that you are, you love yourself enough to walk away. Loving yourself is realizing how amazing you are and refusing to play small.
Everything amazing about the universe is inside you, the two are inseparable - Carl Sagan
As you flow through your yoga practice and during meditation, reach behind the constant stream of chatter going on in your mind and find your higher self. You are a spiritual being having a human experience. You were created perfect and whole, nothing that has happened to you and nothing that you've done can take away from your wholeness. Within you there’s a spark of divinity, and as a divine being you are enough. Focus on your heart center, there exists your deepest and endless source of strength, a limitless supply of energy that you can draw on whenever you need it. Connect with that beautiful energy within, you’ll find that everything you need is already inside you. Repeat to yourself, “I accept, love and appreciate myself just as I am today, I am perfect and whole”.
